AVIF is a very small modern image format that many editors cannot open. Drop it here to convert it to JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF; it works in browsers that can read AVIF (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari 16+) and nothing is uploaded.

AVIF uses the AV1 video codec for stills and typically produces smaller files than JPG or WebP at the same quality. It supports transparency and high colour depth. Websites and CDNs have started serving it automatically.
Support is the issue: image editors, older operating systems and many upload forms do not read it. This tool uses your browser's own AVIF decoder, so it only works where the browser can read AVIF, and says so rather than failing silently.
