JPG compresses photos by discarding detail the eye notices least. That makes small files and works everywhere, but each re-save loses a little more, and JPG cannot store transparency. Text, logos and screenshots show faint smudges at the edges.
Because JPG is the most common input, the usual jobs are: make it smaller, make it a specific size, turn it into a PDF, or switch to a format that supports transparency or smaller web files.

Every browser, phone and computer opens a JPG. To change it, drop it on the tool: choose a size preset (Amazon 1600 px, Etsy 2000 px, Shopify 2048 px and others), a quality slider for the file size, and an output format.
